Abstract

In collaboration with Dr. Weber and the Language and Culture Learning Center, Sydney Mayer’s project involved the creation of an interactive map of key locations setting out events and essential moments of the Haitian Revolution. Her poster "Mapping the Haitian Revolution" won first prize at UIC’s Undergraduate Research Forum (Social Sciences division). Sydney subsequently won the Caterpillar research award to work on original documents dealing with the Haitian slave trade.
