French major (and Spanish minor) Gabriela Reno receives Gilman Scholarship
Gabriela Reno was one of four LAS undergraduate students to receive Gilman Scholarships for summer 2012. Read her story in the Winter 2012 edition of AtLAS. (Scroll down for Ms. Reno's profile and photo.)
Ms. Reno spent her summer studying in Dakar, Senegal. The ambitious junior is double-majoring in French and political science with a minor in Spanish. She studied as part of the Council on International Educational Exchange program, taking courses in African literature and Senegalese government and politics.
The Gilman Scholarship, funded by the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, seeks to expand access to study abroad programs to students who may otherwise be underrepresented in their fields of study or are faced with financial constraints.
