New book by Ellen McClure

Ellen McClure, Associate Professor of French and Francophone Studies and History, and Director of UIC's Engaged Humanities Initiative, has recently published a new book. The Logic of Idolatry in Seventeenth-Century French Literature, looks at how French writers of the period like Descartes, Molière, and Racine "used the logic of idolatry to interrogate the fractured and fragile relationship between the divine and the human, with particular attention to the increasingly fraught question of the legitimacy of human agency."
