Deja Scott

MA Student, Teaching Assistant

About

My name is Deja Scott and I am a Black American native of the Westside of Chicago who developed a passion for French and Francophone culture in my early adolescence. This passion, already fortified, was further intensified after visiting France for the first time at 13 years old. Once I had the opportunity to immerse myself, I knew that French would stay with me for a lifetime.

My enthusiasm for foreign language acquisition has driven me to immerse myself in the learning process, truly living the languages that I study. After nearly three years in Italy, where I honed my Italian and further practiced my French, I returned to Chicago to earn my bachelor’s degree in French with a minor in Black World Studies from The Dominican University.

As a first-year Teaching Assistant and Graduate Student, I am eager to share my unique experiences whilst contributing to and creating a positive learning environment. I’m also excited to gain knowledge from students, continually refining my teaching style to meet their needs.
